6 days…

I leave Austin for Chicago in 6 days…. with packing, selling my condo, saying good-bye to friends and tying up loose ends… not a lot of time to blog.

Laughter is the best medicine!

This made me cry with laughter!  If only we could all STILL, as adult, find such delight in the moment… I need to watch this once a day!

organic gourmet frozen pizza

You should always have one good organic gourmet pizza in the freezer, so you can do this:

And then this:

With wine, of course.

It’s all falling in to place…

Today I woke up at the crack of dawn to walk w my buddy, Brian.  I’m gonna miss town lake.  I think the trail around the lake in Chicago is all concrete.  And I’m a gravel kind of girl.  But things change don’t they?

Brian and I talked about Chicago… and love, and dreams… life and self-sabotage (eww!) and, of course… marketing (he’s like a little wizard w the technical stuff)
It was good.  I will miss those Thursday morning walks.  What started out as networking turned into a friendship.  And I’m glad because this guy is going to create something really cool someday… and then be famous… and then be super-rich… and then have parties w lots of dancing!  And I HEART dancing!  Soooo… GO FOR IT, Brian!  We’ll keep in touch on twitter and I have a feeling we may need each other’s help again some day.  ’Cause yoa wicked smaat.

THEN!  I get a random IM request from my last boyfriend, from like 4 years ago (whoa… that’s a long time to not have a boyfriend… well there was that one, but he wasn’t going to let me have my own opinions, so “ex-nay on osh-jay”)

Back to my story…

He’s happy (aww)  …and so am I (yay!)

It’s really awesome the way that things turn out.

I told him about the move to Chicago and the hard time I will have finding a place in downtown Chicago with a toy Poodle and a big old Rottweiler…

(BACK STORY:  I’m 22 years old.  He used to have a Rottie.  Bodie died and Ron missed him.  So when… his birthday rolls around, I buy him Kaya.  We break up, Kaya stays w me because he travels so much…lalala…)

So, I mention that 6 months ago I called his brother (who lived down the street) because I didn’t have Ron’s number anymore (you have to delete it if you don’t want to make drunk dials)  Anyway, I leave a voicemail saying “Hey this is Jen, I’m calling for Ron because I’m moving to Chicago and I want to see if you can take Kaya… lalala

I never heard back.  Ouch.

WELL… he says he never got the message.  That he and his fiancé (who volunteers w animal rescue) would love to take Kaya to live in their 170-acre ranch.  He even offered to pick her up from Austin, TX to West Virginia!

Is that the best possible solution EVER?!  Because I was going to take her with me… rain or shine.  He is the ONLY person that makes it okay, for me.  Downtown Chicago probably isn’t the best place for a chubby (my fault), old (literally) Rottweiler anyway.

I sure will miss her though.

The first round of buyers came to look at the condo today.  I’m really moving.  Wow.

So much packing to do still.  Can’t play, must pack.  *Bleck*

(SIDE NOTE: Moving is a great example of why it would rock to be monetarily rich.)

I just want to throw it all away.  Red Hot Chili Peppers style… “give it away, give it away, give it away now…”  ha!

I talk to ITS tonight about changing my career goals.  (I’m not impressed by their service at all and especially for the amount of money they charge!)

Must… speak… to… people…

Moral of this story:

A:  Don’t attach yourself to a bunch of crap because it makes moving suck, a little.

B:  Don’t buy people pets for presents.

C:  Don’t pay a bazillion dollars for ITS’ services.

each other

am i the only one that thinks “each other” should be one word?  honestly… it DOES imply a “oneness”, does it not?

i mean, really…  i’m right, right?

i’m glad we agree.  we agree a lot.

that’s probably why we like EACHOTHER so much!

nordstrom

i want these new crocs and i want them now.

i know nordstrom sells crocs.  i look up the number online and to my delight, there is only one number for the one store.  not a bazillion department numbers.  just one.

and guess what i heard when i called?  you’ll never guess… guess.

a human!  yay, nordstrom!  you GET me!

they didn’t carry the shoes in stock, but they were so nice about it, it didn’t matter.

you smell that?  that’s the smell of REAL customer service.

it’s so easy and yet… so seldom practiced.  weird, really.
